Tricentis releases the '2024 Mobile Application Quality Report'
Recently, Tricentis released a global survey report on the importance of mobile application quality and testing, with a focus on the potential impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and low code/no code automation.
Tricentis' 2024 Mobile Application Quality Status Report surveyed the behavior and attitudes of over 1000 senior IT professionals and developers in the United States, Germany, Singapore, and the United Kingdom, exploring the impact of poor application quality and manual testing on business profitability, as well as the benefits of the surge in AI and codeless solutions in mobile testing strategies.
01
The impact of mobile application quality and manual testing on enterprise profitability
Almost all respondents (86%) believe that testing is important for the quality and success of their organization's mobile application development, however, only over a quarter (27%) believe that their organization's current mobile application development and testing strategy exceeds expectations.
This may be explained by nearly half (47%) of respondents stating that they currently use manual testing for mobile application testing. Almost 38% of senior IT professionals and application developers believe that by transitioning to fully automated mobile application testing, their organizations can save 51-75% of their budget annually, while another 20% expect to save 76-100% of their budget annually.
Respondents also expect to increase revenue (31%), improve productivity (32%), increase user retention (28%), and enhance cross device compatibility (28%) by improving the quality and testing of mobile applications. These benefits may be the reason why 32% of respondents expect their organization to invest over $1 million in the next 12 months.
With over seven million applications available on the iOS and Android platforms, organizations need to act quickly today and provide seamless, high-quality mobile experiences with confidence, "said Mav Turner, Chief Product and Strategy Officer at Tricentis. To keep up with the pace, mobile development teams need to quickly test applications and features. Automated solutions powered by AI and low/no code meet this challenge, allowing teams to create and execute tests faster, resulting in better application quality and ultimately providing better value to the companies and end-users they serve
02
AI and codeless solutions become the preferred choice in mobile testing
74% of respondents indicated that their organization's overall sentiment towards AI in mobile software development testing is positive, and they recognize the value it brings. Nearly 49% of people indicate that AI is already part of their mobile application testing strategy, with an additional 21% planning to implement it within the next six months.
And those who have not used AI and low code/no code solutions as mobile testing strategies are almost always facing challenges of talent shortage and skill enhancement, and are more likely to mention the lack of technical resources when implementing mobile application development and testing strategies.
The respondents expect the integration of AI with low code/no code solutions to improve mobile application quality (37%), increase productivity (36%), enhance end-user experience (34%), and reduce the number of vulnerabilities or errors (32%).
Those who have integrated AI with low code/no code solutions into mobile quality testing indicate that compared to those who do not use AI, all services and information within their organization can be accessed through mobile devices (44% vs. 8%).
David Colwell, Vice President of AI and Machine Learning at Tricentis, said, "For organizations looking to implement artificial intelligence to enhance their business goals, mobile application testing is an excellent starting point because it not only saves significant time and cost, improves quality and reduces risk, but also accurately measures its impact.
